Spencer Avenue Corridor: The Armory Building
In 2008, CND will complete a participatory neighborhood planning process for the Spencer Street Corridor. We will look at pedestrian safety, key intersections and roads in the areas, and conduct a traffic study to weigh possibilities for rerouting and redirecting traffic. Along with these exciting development plans, CND will invite Spencer Street area residents to join in neighborhood planning discussions and design charrettes, much like those organized in the Shurtleff Bellingham neighborhood. CND will also extend their community engagement services to the Spencer Ave corridor in the form of neighborcircles and community networking.

In 2007, CND secured site control and financing for our next project, 48 newly constructed rental apartments located at 113 Spencer Street at the site of Chelsea's old Armory Building. We are in pre-development and expect to begin construction by mid-2008. The Spencer Avenue Corridor includes a mix of residential and commercial properties. There is a heavy amount of truck traffic along Spencer as the street is a regularly used as cut-through by drivers looking to avoid neighboring streets with traffic lights.
