Real Estate Development

Through targeted real estate development activity, CND seeks to be a catalyst for revitalizing Chelsea neighborhoods. Unlike other areas of greater Boston, where many non- and for-profit organizations serve as community developers, CND is the only Chelsea-based organization with a mission to revitalize neighborhoods while increasing the city’s supply of affordable housing.

CND owns and manages 156 apartments with 48 new units under construction and over 60 in predevelopment. We seek to build affordable housing in all Chelsea neighborhoods to improve housing choices and conditions. Our development strategies include:

Affordable Rental Housing: We produce affordable rental apartments so that extremely low- to moderate-income families can achieve household economic stability.

Homeownership: We produce high quality affordable and market-rate homeownership units because we believe that people of all economic backgrounds have the right to live in healthy neighborhoods.

Commercial and Other Development: CND assists Chelsea-based non-profits to develop programmatic and office space. Through other commercial development, we seek to build community assets.

CND is always taking applications for its apartments. The organization holds properties of all sizes and prices, from low-income to market rate, in various parts of Chelsea. CND also offers exciting homeownership opportunities to families and individuals who qualify.
