Community Engagement

CND’s Community Engagement Program connects people to people and people to community creating opportunities for neighbors to meet and work together to improve their neighborhood.

These connections are built by community organizing that supports relationship building and fosters civic leadership through social events, neighborhood improvement projects and involving residents in larger planning projects and campaigns.

The Community Engagement Program at CND started in 2006, as CND began to diversify its approach to community development.  Since then, Community Engagement has worked to build a network of engaged residents who are empowered to bring positive change to their neighborhoods.  With the Community Enhancement Team, residents have undertaken campaigns to eliminate graffiti and to educate their neighbors about the importance of proper trash disposal and recycling.  We have coordinated over ten NeighborCircles, and many other events such as block parties and community planning meetings. Community Engagement records its activities, and also announces its upcoming events, on the CND blog.
