Community Enhancement Team

The Community Enhancement Team (CET) is a group of residents who work together to solve community problems.  While the members come from all different walks of life and have different reasons for calling Chelsea their home, they are united in their desire to improve their neighborhood.  CND’s Community Engagement Program works alongside the CET to ensure that they have the skills and information needed to create positive social change.

The CET was formed in 2007 to address the copious amount of graffiti in the neighborhood.  The CET then identified areas that most needed attention, partnered with the city to establish an anti-graffiti hotline and organized a “Get Out, Paint Out” day to paint over problem areas throughout the neighborhood.  After all these efforts, the CET was able to reduce the amount of graffiti in the neighborhood by 70%.

The CET is currently working to reduce the amount of litter and increase the rate of recycling in Chelsea.  CET members have stepped up to propose policy changes to the city and also to educate their neighbors about the importance of recycling and proper trash disposal.  The CET distributes recycling bins and creates materials explaining how trash and recycling works in Chelsea, which you can download here

If you are interested in getting involved with the CET, please contact Tristan Husby, 617.889.1375, x 11 or email thusby@chelsend.org.
